My 50th Post!

THIS IS MY 50TH POST!!!

It came up so quickly. I'll be at 100 posts before I know it!
I think this will be a random post because it's 50.
I don't know how I stumbled into blogging, but I'm glad I did.
It has been very therapeutic for me...
It's helped me get back into the habit of writing,
while meeting GREAT people from all over the world.

I've learned a few things about myself since
I started blogging- things like...

Even though throughout the course of the day,
I am a combination of at least 4 different people,
at any given moment- They are ALL nice girls!
hahaha!

Let's see...
I've learned that I don't like STALKERS!

But I'm sure you knew that already.
I mean, who likes a stalker-right?

umm...
I've learned that the longer your blog roll gets
the more time you spend on the dang computer
trying to catch up on everyone's lives and biz-nass!

But I'm sure you know FIRST hand how that is...
So let me give you something good, huh?

What is a major lesson I have learned
since I started blogging?

hmmm...

O.K.

Even though I can go back & forth fighting with ME and MYSELF...

I- have learned that on this journey called life,
there are no right or wrong answers.
I've learned that my steps are ordered and what's for me
I will have. It doesn't matter which route I take to
get there because I am going to end up in the right place.

I've learned that when I was born I was already equipped
with everything that I would need- not to just survive-
but THRIVE in what ever I chose to do.

I've learned that Life IS the gift- so LIVE!

I am a DIVA... not a BITCH.
I've learned there is a BIG difference.

For those of you who know me-you know that I travel a LOT!
( and I LUV it)
When I was a little girl, my dream was to see the
entire world. As I got older, I didn't just want to SEE
the world, I wanted to ENJOY it too :)
Fast forward and here I am!

I was surfing around and found this cool map program
that let's you see on a map how many countries you have
visited in the world. I thought it was pretty cool.

According to the map, I have been to 39 countries which comes
out to be only 16% of the world!
Man! I need to get busy if I plan to see the WHOLE WORLD :)

39 countries 16%

create your own visited country map

The places in RED represent all of the places I have been
in the world. But for me it's even MORE special because
it represents all of the places I have sang...

The RED may represent the places I have been-
but the GRAY reminds me that I have a world
to explore and experience. The GRAY is a world
that has yet to experience the Sangin' Diva...
but when they do...oh what a treat for all of us! :)

The world is bigger than just the United States-
and it is my playground :)
This is why I love being an International Superstar!

I am grateful to God everyday for allowing me
to live off of the gifts he has given me.
I 'm a living witness that 'the just shall live by faith',
because I do it everyday and want for nothing...

Well friends-
This is my last post until Monday.

I'm on my way to lovely San Francisco, CA.

This is strictly a pleasure trip :)
A birthday do-over of sorts...
Ahhh... It is so LOVELY being the Sangin' Diva!

Have a great weekend!

P.S. I tried to make the map
smaller but it won't do it sorry...

Summertime In the LBC... West Coast Hottie Style!

(ME, Glam, Tam and P.)

On Saturday- The West Coast Blogging Hotties got
together at Bubba Gump Srimp Co. in Long Beach, CA
to celebrate Summer, Sistahood, and Living life
BECAUSE it's golden!

I invited my friend and fellow blogger Isha.

We decided at the end of the night- she was deemed
cool-yet hot enough to be inducted as our newest
West Coast Blogging Hottie- member.
Congrats!

Just as I was making my $5 bet, that fellow blogger BossMack
would NOT be joining us like he promised- He rolls up!!
I was shocked! I just KNEW he was going to flake.
I had to get a photo of this monumental occasion!
And here we are :)

BossMack is such a cutie! He's real cool and low key.
He came through with his homeboy Gates-
I didn't have a chance to talk to him because he was
at the other end of the table... but Nisa sure was interviewing him!!

The boys just had drinks with us because of prior
engagments but I was glad to see BossMack-
surprise on me!

Then our waiter came-
young Gerald...He was HAWT!!

He probably got tired running back and forth
for water and forks and such... poor thing!

We had a great time eating and hanging out-
and here's proof...

(Me and P)

(Me and Tam)

(Me, Nisa,Isha and Tam)

After we left Bubba's we went to the
Mai Tai Bar next door.
It was Samoan Night and the band was LIVE!!

Tam and Isha and I were standing listening and
dancing to the music when this white couple walked by us...
(Tam SWEARS that I am a white boy magnet)
The guy lets go of his girl's hand and starts dancing with me!
He left her completely for the whole song!

(Tam and Isha)

I DIDN'T know this man!
I was MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS!
HE was there WITH his girlfreind or whoever.
Tam- It was NOT my fault!!!

Anyway a great time was had by all!
(especially me!)

TAM, ISHA, and GLAM have also given their recaps-

Day Dreaming... An Ode to Black Love

I am feeling so lazy today-
I was going to write about
something totally different
but I want to let you in on
how I'm spending my day.

May I have 5 minutes of your time?
Day Dream with me...

He's the kind of guy that would say:
'Hey baby let's get away let's go some place, huh?
Where I don't care...'

He's the kind of guy that you give your everything-
your trust, your heart, share all of your love,
'till death do you part...

I want to be what he wants,
when he wants it,
and whenever he needs it
And when he's lonesome and feelin' love starved
I'll be there to feed it
I'm lovin' him a little bit more each day
He turns me right on when I hear him say...

(Hey baby let's get away, let's go somewhere -huh?

Natural Puffin'...

I was hanging out with my little niece-
who always wears the cutest afro puffs.
(I personally think my sister is too lazy
to comb her hair... but I digress.)

Anyway, because of my niece-
this weekend I decided to be an afro puff diva!

I washed my hair, whipped out the blow dryer-
and wound up with a mess that did NOT look
like the picture!
I mean, call me ignorant, but I just assumed
that all black folks could wear one and it would
be an easy thing to do.

Then I thought, well maybe the heat was up
too high on the dryer, I'll try again. So I wet my hair,
chanted "Power to the People" as I held up my fist,
channeled my inner Angela Davis (for good luck)

and wound up with-
the same hot a** mess as before! :(
Let's just say it was NOT a good look.
So I call my sister and frantically say:
My head is a mess and I only have 4 hours
before I have to be at the airport-
HELP ME!!!

I told her what I did to which she said:
"Why would you do that looser?"
She comes over and proceeds to comb my hair-
like she would her daughter...

in the same dang style-
with the same brush, grease and water :(
(I can't stand her!!)

Since beggars can't be choosy-
here was the end result:

(Left side)

(Right side)

I haven't worn my hair like this since I was
a little girl- but it grew on me.
I think I'll keep it for another week! :)

Anyway-

Here I am after the show in Providence, RI
with Thalia, who was my assistant during my
time there. Mami was quick to let you know
she was 100% ITALIAN!!! hahaha!

It's been a couple of years since I had been to
Providence... but I swear it's like an episode
of the Sopranos! It was like Mob central :)
(I think I should just keep my mouth shut
before I get whacked!) hahahaha!!

Missy- I missed you when I was in Boston :(
next time for sure!

CeCe- Glad New York was good for you-
now when can I get REAL pics of the hair cut?! :)

WCBH'S-
I am so excited!!! I'll be at our next function!!!!
(sorry Zed- the date has been moved to Aug.)

Ms. Phoenix, I'm going to call you for the updates!
heeeeeyyyy!!

5 Minute Breather...

Hey Bloggin' Fam :)

I'm taking this 5 minute breather because I
just got home from doing shows in Vegas and Chicago.
I didn't have a chance to hang out or anything this time
because my schedule was so tight.
Here I am on the bus in Vegas-

It was so hot! Over 100 degrees everyday.
I was upset that I wasn't able to get any pool time in :(

Here I am before the show:

The Vegas show was soo hyped! I forgot the name of
the Casino-something with a train...
Anyway- I love playing in towns that are used to live
entertainment (such as Vegas). The energy and participation
of the crowd is incredible! New York has that type of energy too.

The next day I was in Chicago (CHI-TOWN HOLLA!!)
The show was for the United Negro College Fund
Black and White Ball. (Private, Black-tie Fundraiser.)
They raised 2.1 million dollars!

There were a lot of people yall would know there-
but my purse was too small for my camera.
(I think it's time for me to get a smaller digital!)
I danced and partied all night! :)
I snapped a pic of me when I got back to
the room- even though my make-up was
pretty much gone!

On the way home Jeffrey and I ended up getting seats
next to each other on the plane.
We slept the whole way home!
I never sleep through the meal-
so I must have been REALLY tired -hahaha!
When the stewardess woke us up to land-
I leaned over and snapped this picture of us.

SHOUT out to little Jeffrey- who turned 17 today.
Dang- I remember when he was 12! Gemini's ROCK!

Speaking of Gemini's and sons...
Let me dip into my private life for a second-

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my son AARON!
He turned 8 on June 9th.
We celebrated before I left at Legoland.

Te amo mucho, hijo. Besos y Feliz CumpleaƱos...

ANNOUNCEMENTS...

Aiight yall-
As always I am on the blog catch up!
I am reading although I have not commented...yet.

Ms. Phoenix -I got your message...
Why you gotta clown?
Gurl- I'm really bad with the phone.
I never check my messages :(
I think the show on the 23rd is going to cancel.
If so I will be at the next WCBH Convention-
(I'mma call you)

If the 23rd falls out ...
Zed we won't be able to catch each other this round...
DANG!!! :(

Cece- I will be in Providence on Friday!
Where you at gurl?!!

Worst B-day Pt. 2

O.k. yall,
Sorry I took so long!!
I got your hurry up and write mail :)
I left a cliff hanger because I was waiting on pictures that
would help paint the picture to my story.
ANYWAY-
The person never sent the pictures and the show must go on.
Let me quickly tell you what happened...
Memorial Day (the actual day of my birthday)
was when we were leaving Montgomery.

After getting to the airport 2 1/2 hours early
and seeing 20 people...
I should have known this was going to be one
of THOSE days but it was my birthday so
I was still optimistic.
THEN we find out that everything has been DELAYED
because of weather-( I KNEW this was NOT good.)
So in typical band fashion we find the airport BAR.
Yes, I know it wasn't noon in Cali or 5 p.m. anywhere on the
east coast but the road knows no time so...
DRINKS FOR EVERYONE!! (free for me...It's my birthday!)

I discover there is free wireless in the airport and we all
whip out our Mac's for what turns out to be a 3 hour tour
of the Montgomery airport bar...

A 3 hour tour...

A 3 hour tour...

At 7:30 we hear an announcement saying that the
airport is closing (WHAT???) and all passengers who
are waiting on a flight should pass through security
because the TSA is going home. (HUH??)

That announcement was soo wrong in so many ways-
I mean really...
the only thing that separated the terminal from the bar
was a wall and a few stairs. And I'm just wondering HOW
does an airport close when you still have people there??

By now it's 8 o'clock and my optimism is fading...FAST
(so is my buzz). The last place I wanted to get stuck was
the Montgomery, AL airport- with no plane, no bar, no food-
and oh- no TSA security to keep me safe... oh the horror!

Now I'm getting more than nervous-
hmmm... what is the first thing black folks do
when they run into some trouble?
(No- AFTER you call your mom and realize
she can't help you...)
That's right you call DA LAWD!!
So I called Jesus...(you know he's always on the main line)
and said: Lord, you know I don't want to be stuck here
all night- Please get me out of here.
Just as I said "AMEN" the plane landed!!
Can we say Praise da Lawd?!

Now here is a Sunday school lesson-
BE SPECIFIC when asking the good Lord
to do something for you. I asked the lord
to "get me out of here" and he did JUST
that... Got me out of Montgomery...
and left me stuck in Houston.
Technically- God did just what I asked
of him- Next time I'll say: Lord please get me HOME!!

So we get to Houston on the last flight in for the night-
found out Continental (which is the WORST airline EVER)
lied to us, rebooked us for a fight back to L.A.
2 DAYS later, had no idea where the luggage was,
offered no hotel accommodations, no food vouchers
just basically overall screwed us. Here we are at the counter
in Houston finding out all of this great news!

And here I am trying not to be disgusted!

We check into a hotel and at 5:45 in the morning on Tues.
we are back at the airport trying to get home.
They tell us everything is booked-
but we can try a stand by flight at 10:30...
it's 6 am mind you.
At 10:30 they send us to a Northwest flight
and we get on!!!
As we sit on the tar mat for 10... 30... 40 mins...
an hour passes and we hear:
I'm sorry we have been here so long there is
a mechanical problem with the plane and we
are going to have to call Minneapolis to see what
to do. (WHAT?!?!? THE #%&^*@%)
4 hours later the flight canceled. *insert scream here*

It was then- I, Sangindiva-the only woman in the band
and dare I say it?!? the SMARTEST one of the bunch,
had to take action...
I turned on my Sangindiva charm-(I'm famous for it ya know)
and Gemini wit to get home- 'cause this was just dang ridiculous!

I found a friendly desk attendant
and said: I really, really, need to
get home. Is there anyway you can
book me on a flight out of here
somewhere close to California?
It's my birthday...

(even though my birthday was over...
technically... hee hee hee)
And she said: "Well baby...let's see what
we can do for you..."

2 1/2 hours later I was on a plane to ...VEGAS.
Everything to L.A. was full but it was much easier
to get home from Vegas. I mean really I could drive if I had to!
I WOULDN'T... but I could.

Then I thought: ok I am going to get home quick-
a flight from Vegas leaves almost every hour...
HA!! not for me it didn't.

We waited at the Vegas airport 4- yes 4- HOURS...
here I am (with Joey) waiting...

At a little after 10:30 pm on Tues. I finally landed
at LAX in Los Angeles, CA-
and when I finally got to the valet spot,
where I park...
I had to wait an extra 30 mins because
they didn't know where they parked my car!!
AAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAHAAAAA!!!

Children of the Blog...
when I tell you it was the worst...
BELIEVE ME it really was!

THE WORST BIRTHDAY...EVER!!! (Pt. 1)

powered by ODEO

(Click the pink arrow)

You know how when you're a kid,
you can't WAIT for your birthday?
You anticipate the presents, parties and fun;
You can't sleep the night before...
It is THE celebration!!

But as you get older does it
seem to just become another day?
I believe that because of all the hype
we place on age, we build up birthdays
like we did when we were kids.
But a birthday of 6 is nothing like a
birthday of 26...

Remember I told yall I was going to be
workin' Memorial Day weekend
and I would be on the road
for my birthday?
Well, it started off pretty good
and everything was on schedule...
I went to Montgomery, AL.
The flight was cool-
a little bumpy but nothing
a little prayer couldn't handle :)

It was about 10 million degrees, muggy and sticky,
but it was nice overall. On the bill was Ciara,
Bo Bice (huh?), Us as well as a great local act
named Eric Nettles.

Here I am at sound check.

I hate this picture because I was sweatin' like an Arab,
and from the angle that our keyboard player took it
you can see my ribs so I look fat and like I have
double sets of breast... UGH!!

Anyway-
The show went well.
Here I am before the show-
('cause things were still going well...)

...By myself

And with Jeffrey...

After the show we all got together to have drinks
to celebrate my birthday...

little did I know-
everything would go down hill from there!

O.k. yall I'm cliff hanging this story for the weekend-
'cause I'm too lazy to finish!

THANK YOU to EVERYONE for your Birthday well wishes,
kind words, gifts and love.
Have a FANTASTIC weekend!
